Cancer free. Let’s Party!

After having my Pet Scan to find out whether I still had the cancer left I started planning a party as I was sure I was all clear and wanted to celebrate in style. So how do you celebrate being cancer free? Well I love to dance and I love a good fancy dress so I decided to invite a group of friends to dress up and go for food and go out in good ol’ town.

Next to decide was what theme… While going through chemo someone had sent me a funny quote saying ‘May your chemo give you superpowers’, I loved the idea of this as I love DC and Marvel so I decided I should dress up as Wonder Woman and I should get everyone to dress up as different DC and Marvel superheroes and villains, my rules were that no one could dress as the same character twice and to see how many different characters we could get.

So after going to my hospital appointment and getting the “all clear“, the party was two weekends later. Not everyone went for food and not all that went for food went out into town so we never got a full picture of all the characters but I have photos of different groups and I was so impressed with peoples imagination no one did anything by half, it was great! And to add to the evening as it was my cancer free celebration we took a bucket around with us for Cancer Research and raised money as we went. We drew a lot of attention and a lot of questions as to why we were dressed up, this made raising money easier, most people were happy to put in the bucket. By the end of the evening we had raised £203.19   .

Not only did we have a great fun filled evening out celebrating my news and enjoying the first proper night out in over 8 months but we managed to raise money to help with potentially helping others kick cancer’s butt! There is always a way to find the good in anything bad, and this would definitely be the good!

Here are some photos of my wonderful bunch of friends.
